A Theory of the Basal Ganglia and Their Disorders attempts to provide a clear, coherent view of basal ganglia that integrates evidence from the basic neurosciences, neurology, and psychiatry. Part I of the text develops a conceptual theory based on the normal function of basal ganglia. Part II details the mechanisms that relate basic pathology to the manifestation of symptoms for related disorders, including Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, dopamine-related psychosis, and other psychotic disorders.
